Rockbridge County Democratic Committee Meeting - Nov 28, 2012

Former Virginia Democratic Committee Vice-Chair to Speak November 28

James Turpin, former Vice-Chair of the Virginia Democratic Committee, will be the featured speaker at the November 28 meeting of the Rockbridge County Democratic Committee to be held at 5:30 pm at the Virginia Horse Center, Mezzanine Level.  Mr. Turpin will be taking a look back on the successful 2012 campaign and a look forward to 2013 campaigns.

Mr. Turpin grew up in Georgia and came to Virginia in 1971 to attend Virginia Military Institute.  A one-time Republican,  he has served in a number of posts in the Democratic Party of Virginia over the last twenty-five years. His background includes a strong interest in historic campaign paraphernalia, and a passion for wine.   These two interests were combined when Mr. Turpin founded the Democracy  Vineyard in Nelson County in 2007 and decorated the wall of the tasting room with pieces from the campaign collection.

In the past, Mr. Turpin has been principal with the EB&T Strategy Group which provided strategic planning in a range of issue areas including, but not limited to, health care, land use, housing, economic development and state legislative caucus development.  In 2008, he served as Delegate to the Democratic National Convention.

Mr. Turpin's remarks will be preceded by a 5:30 pm social hour (cash bar) and a 6:15 pm
buffet dinner ($20 cash).  Dinner is not required to attend the 7:15 pm talk.  The public is welcome.   RSVP by Nov. 21 for dinner reservations or for more information, contact Glenda Grasse at 463-4267 or gandg@histomin.com
