An Unassembled Caucus - Monday, April 23, 2012

The Rockbridge County Democratic Committee will convene an unassembled caucus at 7:30 PM, Monday, April 23, 2012 at the rear meeting room of the Old Rockbridge County Courthouse, Lexington, Virginia for the purpose of electing 7 delegates and 2 alternates to the 6th Congressional District Democratic Convention and the Virginia Democratic State Convention. Democrats to Host Senator Creigh Deeds at March 28 Meeting

Senator Creigh Deeds, representing Virginia's 25th district, will speak at the Wednesday, March 28 meeting of the Rockbridge County Democratic Committee to be held at 5:30 pm at the Southern Inn II Restaurant, 465 Nelson Street, Lexington.

The Senator will summarize the accomplishments and challenges of the 2012 Virginia General Assembly Session. He will also assess the current legislative environment in the evenly divided Senate of Virginia.

Senator Deeds was born in Richmond, VA and received his undergraduate degree from Concord College and, in 1984, his law degree from Wake Forest University. From 1988-1992, he was a prosecutor in Bath County. In 1991, Deeds was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates representing the 18th District. In 2002, after winning a special election to fill the seat of the late Senator Emily Couric, Deeds entered the State Senate representing the 25th District, which includes Rockbridge, Nelson, Albemarle (part), Alleghany, Highland and Bath counties and the cities of Lexington, Buena Vista, Covington, and Charlottesville.

Senator Deeds sits on three standing committees: General Law and Technology, Privileges and Elections, and Transportation.
